Tom Luscombe 

Tom Luscombe is an established commercial photographer, educator and lighting technician. 

He attained a Bachelor of Design from the University of Technology, Sydney, writing his thesis on fashion photography. As an artist he had his first successful solo exhibition in 1993 and first group show in 2007. Since then he has exhibited on a regular basis at Contact Sheet and other fine art galleries in Sydney. His work appears in many collections, including that of a major Chinese art collector based in Hong Kong, Beijing and Sydney. 

Tom worked at the Australian Centre for Photography (ACP) in the position of workshop co-ordinator within the education department. Tom worked closely with the staff and tutors assisting in course development as well as the day to day running of the education department. For many years Tom was a tutor at the ACP and at the Raffles College of Design and Commerce specialising in lighting and technical aspects of photography. Tom has also taught a seniors class at the Museum of Contemporary Art. He has delivered several community photography programmes with young people, including an eight week change-making photographic course for indigenous youth through Flashpoint Labs. 

Tom is now based in Orange, NSW, as a freelance photographer, concentrating on product, still-life and portrait photography. His clients include local food and wine producers. In 2018, he was selected to deliver his first public art project in partnership with Contact Sheet and North Sydney Council. He mentors artists who are studying at MA and PhD levels, advising on lighting and development of style. He is currently collaborating with Paul McDonald as a lighting technician for an exhibition planned for 2019.
